Hi Wise Women and Welcome

Thanks for visiting me. I hope you are enjoying a healthy and happy week.

Australia has its first female Prime Minister, Julia Gillard!

Congratulations Julia from Wise Womens World.

I am woman hear me ROAR.

She was not elected by the people but by her party. Tipsters are saying that she will call an election in the next couple of months to allow the voters of Australia to decide her fate.

Prime Minister Gillard is a fiery redhead and was born in Wales, immigrating to Australia when she was 3. She also has nerves of steel and the gift of the gab.

The next couple of months will be extremely interesting in Australian politics as we judge her progress and determine if she has the ability to lead our country into the future.

My Week

Wimbledon has been keeping me up to all hours of the morning with their fantastic tournaments. The players have been amazing and have given me hours of entertainment.

The Soccer World Cup has also been a huge drawcard in my household and although we have no Australians left in either of the competitions, we still marvel at the talent fighting it out to be number 1 in the world.

Good luck to all of the competitors!

The Good Life

During the week I was totally spoiled and pampered as I accepted a generous gift voucher to an exclusive spa, 'Milk Day Spa' in Paddington, Sydney.

It was a bitterly cold day outside and as I entered the doors of the glamorous spa, I thought I had just passed through the pearly gates.

This is Heaven and... Heaven is warm!

After a friendly greeting, I was gently ushered to my candle-lit dressing room where I was provided with a fluffy gown and slippers before being offered a big round comfy chair in the nearby retreat room.

My ice cold feet were placed ceremoniously in a bowl of warm water and floating flowers as I filled out my information form.

Before long, I was laying comfortably on a wide massage table draped in warm, luxurious towels. My feet and legs were massaged to relax me... as if I needed any more incentive to relax!

Sarah, my talented beauty therapist explained that I would be having the anti-ageing facial treatment - which I thought was highly appropriate. She then began the facial massage which felt positively amazing.

I don't know about you girls, but do you ever worry about nasal secretions when your nose is being massaged and manipulated? Well I do, and I really fought hard to inhale during time spent in the nostril vicinity!

As my neck and shoulders were being massaged I became more and more deeply relaxed. Sarah then applied a rich, creamy facial mask before massaging my arms and hands allowing the mask time to set.

I was floating on cloud nine, I was so relaxed.

Occasionally, I would hear a little snorting sound and I realised...that was me, taking an unscheduled 'nanny nap'. I wondered if I had ever been this relaxed before..

75 minutes of pure bliss felt like 15 and it was over all too soon with a soft "ting, ting" sound of miniature cymbals.

As I left the spa I gained a spring in my step and felt incredibly energised. My complexion took on a healthy, dewy glow too. I was thrilled with the result.

All I could think about was my return visit!

Don't laugh!

Well girls I've decided to participate in the City to Surf Charity Race in August. It's a 14 kilometre challenge and starts in the city and finishes at the famous Bondi Beach.

To complete the race, we have to climb "heartbreak hill" along the way, which in many cases becomes a "deal-breaker" for some of the competitors.

I don't think I have ever walked this far in my life so I have begun training with my husband, son and daughter.

There is not a fit one among us so I know we will have to get our bodies moving!

We have a tough road ahead of us.

Want To Lose Weight?

If we want to lose weight, experts are saying we have to ditch the sugar. It's a scary thought isn't it? I love cakes, chocolates and icecream and don't know if I can survive a day without a little 'sweetness'.

DID YOU KNOW? a 600ml of soft drink contains the equivalent of at least 12 to 15 teaspoons of sugar. Source - Victoria State Government Better Health channel.

SUGAR MAKES US FAT!

It's time to break the habit girls and go cold turkey.

Author, David Gillespie explains how you can break the habit. Go to

Tummy Flattery

Why is it that whenever we have a special event to attend, our tummy becomes so bloated we look 8 months pregnant?

Bloating can sometimes be attributed to stress, poor digestion or food intolerances but whatever the cause, we need to camouflage it.

Gigi explains how to hide that bulging belly

Wise Words

"If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way until later in the fall. I would go to more dances. I would ride more merry-go-rounds. I would pick more daisies".
