Hi Wise Women and Welcome
We are nearing the end of February and moving quickly into March, time is ticking by so I hope you are sticking to your New Year’s Resolutions!!
A New Year always inspires us to change and hopefully those changes involve happier and healthier lifestyles.
Laughter is a wonderful cure all, so make sure you are doing lots of it.
My Week

Me and my gorgeous daughter
Like Gigi, February is all about celebrating birthdays for me...lots of them, including my stunning daughter who turned 34 years young. We shared a lovely lunch with the family and a fun day was had by all.
It’s often hard to get a word in edgeways when we get together, is like that with your family too?
This week, I also enjoyed a trip to Melbourne, Melbourne is certainly a foodies paradise. I really enjoy food (too much) and was looking forward to a special luncheon at Silks restaurant in the Crowne Casino complex as it had been highly recommended to us.
The opulent restaurant overlooking the Yarra River offered first class Chinese cuisine and because of the recent Chinese New Year celebrations, we were presented with a sumptuous banquet – how could I refuse. 6 delicious courses later and I was feeling incredibly euphoric.
In my next life I want to be a food critic!
When I arrived back in Sydney we celebrated my father-in-law Ken’s birthday at a Chinese Yum Cha restaurant. As the trolleys laden with all kinds of delectable dim sum shunted past our table, I couldn’t resist trying most things, except for the chicken feet, which I left for my other family members to try. (I'm starting to realise that I have a "thing" for Chinese food).
Lana’s Update
On last week’s Wise Women’s Blog I reported on the fantastic but very wet Rob Thomas Concert I attended with my friend (and Acupuncturist) Dale at the open-air Hope Estate Winery and I just received a couple of pictures from her.
This one (below) is me looking very stylish in the latest "storm-wear" – sheer plastic ponchos.

How glam!
In this next photo, have a look at the sky, this is just after the storm had passed.

Whitney Houston Concert.
Witney is one very glamorous woman but I am afraid that the majority of fans who attended her concert in both Brisbane and Sydney complained that her voice is not what it used to be.
I certainly feel compassion for Whitney as she must have sadly realised how disappointed her fans were at her performance. She would have also needed to come to terms with the fact that performing live may be a thing of the past for her.
I also feel for Whitney’s disappointed fans who paid enormous ticket prices to attend the show.
Are they entitled to some form of recompense?

Women Helping Women

On Friday night Gigi attended a fund raising event for Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia in Addis Ababa. The hospital, established by inspirational Australian doctor, Catherine Hamlin, works to change the lives of some of the world’s most destitute women in one of the world’s poorest countries.
Run completely on donations, the hospital treats nearly 3000 women every year suffering obstetric fistula. These young women have suffered obstructed childbirth without medical assistance and having lost their babies, are left with severe internal injuries.
Women, let’s get together and make a difference to these precious lives.
