The Scientific world believes everyone dreams - that includes your dog, cat, birds etc. Everyone has their own personal experience such as dreaming in colour and some find it easier to recall dreams than others.

The mind goes through four stages as it completes its sleeping pattern and then can repeat the sequence up to five times during the night.
The first stage is a very light sleep - in fact you may not even think you were asleep - you are in a relaxed phase known as the alpha state lasting approximately 5 -10 minutes.
The second stage is the a deeper phase - it is likely that your brain is juggling thoughts and ideas now, but no clear images emerge at this theta state (during this stage snoring is common and the body starts to slow down be decreasing temperature, heart rate, pulse and blood pressure.) You are most likely aware of the term REM sleep (rapid eye movement) and we slip in and out of this during second stage sleep. REM lasts for a few minutes only at the beginning of the sleep sequence.
The third stage is where you are in a deep sleep. Here, you fall into a deep dreamless state (you are in a totally relaxed state now and will be difficult to rouse) This period can last for an hour or so.
The fourth stage is where you are in your deepest sleep. It is almost impossible to be roused from this sleep. Now your dreams occur because your brain is at its most active state. You alternate between REM and deep sleep. It is said that heart and blood pressure rates fluctuate and hormones are released to repair body tissues.

Everyone wishes for a good nights sleep. We feel rejuvenated and energised. Dreaming is a natural part of sleep but what does it all mean.
Keep tuned to find out.
